How many remember the “People Do” campaign? It featured blue butterfly in El Segundo, and other ways in which Chevron was doing environmental good. It was also the first major corporate environmental campaign. It was a success.

During the 1970’s and into the 1980’s Bob Evans and his La Mer Bleu Productions Team logged over 850 dives beneath the platforms of the Santa Barbara Channel Islands, photo-documenting a research projects and aquaculture programs, and the marine life as it developed. These Pacific Offshore Continental Shelf offshore oil platforms have since been documented as more productive than any reef in the world.

This video is a direct transfer from original 8 mm footage – which accounts for the quality – of “A Better Way,” which was shared with Chevron’s advertising agency, and was part of the inspiration that led to the iconic messaging.
