Unique to the offshore oil platforms of the California coast, nudibranch live among the familiar California Mussel (Mytilus californianus), which anchor themselves with a network of byssal threads. Tiny organisms live in its matrix. The mussels compete for space with Spiny Brittle Stars, scallops, sea urchins and barnacles.
